Detox Diet Plan – Who Else Wants A Detox Diet Plan?
Detox Diet Plan – Who Else Wants A Detox Diet Plan?
I’ve been a bit obsessed with detoxing for the last few weeks. Even though I go skating in the cold, cold wind (often around -25C with windchill) every morning, I’ve been feeling a need to cleanse, mostly because my digestive system feels sluggish and heavy lately.
I’m all for shifting to a warmer diet in the winter, and including more cooked vegetables, grains and beans than I would in the summer, but I find that I need a bit of a lightening-up every so often.
It isn’t usually a problem, and I love taking a few days or up to a week of super-clean and light eating. Unfortunately, at this point Phil isn’t in the same phase as me and wants lots of warming, heavier foods. Even that wouldn’t be a problem, except that when I make a delicious meal for him for dinner, I want to eat it too!
So I’m going to take out my obsession on my blog, and go through a lot of information about cleanses and detoxes this month.
As it starts to warm up, spring is a perfect time to cleanse. Depending on the weather in your area, now might be a good time to go for it, or you can come up with a plan for when it does warm up enough.
Cleanses and fasts have become more and more common as people aim to detoxify their bodies. There are some intense versions, but a simple detox diet plan will work really well for you to kick start or get back on track in an overall healthy eating plan.
Understanding the different types, as well as their pros and cons, will help you plan a healthy detox to cleanse and re-energize your system. Different people have different goals going into a detox, but knowing the benefits of a detox diet plan can help motivate you to achieve your own goals.
Look to these benefits as the answer to why you would want to follow a detox diet plan:
Improve digestion
Reduce gas
Improve nutrient absorption from your food
Eliminate toxins
Break addictions or cravings, including an addiction to food in general or overeating
Discover hidden allergies
Boost energy
Kick start a weight loss diet plan or healthy eating plan
Periodic cleanse to reinvigorate healthy eating plan
In 2004, I graduated from University with all of the various licenses needed to be a commercial pilot. My first job was as a flight instructor.
What an unfortunate time to start developing an awareness of the environmental problems facing our planet, and for whatever reason, a keen desire to help solve them. Up and down and up and down in a gas-guzzling airplane all day just wasn’t going to cut it anymore.
Phil and I studied various health ideologies and read countless books and articles. We experimented with a 100% raw diet, studied eastern philosophies – including Chinese nutritional ideals and Ayurvedic science – and even fasted on green smoothies for a couple of weeks. We delved into supplementation, superfoods, vegetarianism, and then veganism.
I decided to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist. And having become a fairly accomplished cook after experimenting with all of these different food philosophies, I decided to take that a step further and take some cooking classes. I eventually enrolled in the School of Natural Cookery.
And that’s why I’m here. With my Healthy Vegan Recipes website, I teach you how to live a healthy vegan lifestyle, including how to get proper nutrition, enough protein, vitamin b12 and other minerals, and how to make an amazing variety of simple, fast healthy vegan recipes that taste incredible for you and your family.
I do this through my dinner recipes on video, written blog on holistic health and nutrition, and more comprehensive information products that empower you to make healthy vegan meals, partially by following recipes, but also by learning how to do it without a recipe.
When not learning about the culinary arts and holistic nutrition, I love to camp, hike, figure skate, bike around town and take photos.
I guess the only other thing I want to say is that my website is not only for vegans. It’s for anyone who is interested in incorporating more vegetables into their diet. Even if you eat lots of meat, I hope you’ll tune in. And I would be grateful if you would leave a comment for me on any of my videos or blog posts that you like. I have a big list of subscribers on YouTube, but it is taking longer for people to find this website and I’m hoping to establish a positive community of health-minded friends.
