My brothers wedding is in 3 weeks and i want to look good in my dress, but lately i have been gaining a lot of weight. i need a healthy diet (or not even a diet) plan. i want to lose a few pounds for the dress, but not to go extreme.

I know a lady who had to go on a diabetic diet for health reasons. I was wondering if there was anywhere that I could find a meal plan for a 1800 calorie or 1600 calorie diet, that lists foods for each meal and snacks etc etc. I know for a dieabetic diet just cut out sugar, but the meal plans actually break it down. Please help.

You really don’t want a diet plan given to someone by a doctor. They have no knowledge of nutrition and the person that gave the doctor the plan was probably a rep from a drug company that was promoting some diabetic drug.

A very good site to learn about diabetes diets and how to manage the blood sugar can be found at: www.mendosa.com

That web site is very comprehensive and very good information that is nutritionally sound. You need to understand the difference between glycemic index and glycemic load. The index is not the best way to approach the issue because it requires 50 grams of a nutrient and just imagine how many carrots are in 50 grams. The Glycemic Load deals with “SERVING SIZES” and is much better. To count calories is not a good idea either. The type of food you eat that provides calories is the important issue.

And yes, it IS possible to cut out sugar, but carbohydrates generate glucose in the blood the same as sugar. The difference is the density of the carb and how long it takes the body to break it down. If you overload your body with carbs or sugar, this is when you get the “insulin resistance” associated with diabetes. It’s not enough just to manage your diet, but you need to look at many other aspects, such as digestion. If you are not digesting properly, and have a high pH in the stomach, you will get the nano bacteria that CAUSES DIABETES because it will attack the pancreas. I strongly urge you to seek out a Certified Nutritional Therapist to guide you through this process. Diabetes type II is NOT a life sentence and you CAN get healthy again with the proper advice.

I am a competitive figure skater and I skate 3-4 hours a day five days a week. I also do an hour and a half of off ice strength and cardio exercises, three times per week. In addition I do 3 hours of modern and ballet classes per week.

I am in fairly good shape right now but would really love to lose a few pounds so that I look better on the ice and you can really see my muscles.

Since becoming a vegetarian I feel like I have been having trouble eating as healthy as I did before. I am eating more ice cream and sweets. I also use to eat fish but haven’t been eatting it for one month. I would be willing to eat fish again if it will allow me to lose body fat. Also, my doctor said it would be good for me to eat fish because my blood is showing signs of having some sort of problem. I would really love to find a diet plan that I can stick to and lose weight. If anyone has any books, websites or personal suggestions that would be fantastic. Thanks for any help!

cut down on sodium and packaged foods/canned foods.
Eat fresh fruits and veggies
ease up on meats and cheeses
Eat Oatmeal
Use Olive oil instead of veggie oil

Exercise daily (walking 30-60 min a day)

Stop drinking soda pop, drink water instead

Pretty much common sense stuff. Don’t over eat, eat a lot of veggies/fruits, exercise.

Some people, no matter how healthy they are and how much they exercise, genetically they are going to have higher cholesterol and may need a prescription for that. Try diet and exercise first.

Im trying to lose weight and get a 6 pack. I already lost 55 pounds without changing my diet or excersize. I think its because of my job. But I want to start excersizing and eating better to just be healthy and get into shape. I want to find a good diet plan so I can lose fat the right away and get really tone. I hate diets !

Most of the time you don’t enjoy the food, and eating is supposed to be a pleasure. How do I eat healthy and lean? I do research on the internet & health magazines and make notes of what kinds of foods are healthy, tasty and that helps with fat reduction. I am constantly on the lookout for any new kinds of food that the experts might mention to add to my list of favorite food. From that list of food, I will then choose the ones that I like and build an eating plan around them.

There are also lots of nice food to use as in-between snacks, and the snacking also helps you to eat less at meal times. My favorite snack food is Almond nuts and dried Mango. They are non fattening snacks, filled with good fibre.

To eat correctly, is the most important part of your training program. This will get you the results that you want during exercise much quicker.

Same as with my food, I prefer to do Interval training that is much more interesting than the boring repetitive types. I also look for a few of the most popular interval training exercises around, and choose my favorites from that. I alternate between the exercises so that it does not become boring.
